TIME - Narrative and main story to develop from

Synopsis:

1st year of university begins. Freshers are here. As a group of friends make and old house their new home, little do they know they will be in for a nasty shock. Are they the only ones really living here? Only a matter of time that will allow them to leave the house safely...

Main Story Idea:

Before the major step of moving in togather, a group of 6 friends are happy to finally get away from home and gain some independance without their parents nagging at their throats. Best friends Grace and Alex are extremely excited to finally be living the reality of their combined dream of living together. All they can see for now is the future and fun!

Not for too long though; shortly after moving into their new home the group start to experience some strange incedents happening around the home: lots of crashes. smashed glass, wobbling tables, and doors slamming coincedently. Begiining to petrify the group after only living there for a few months, it becomes apparent that clearly they're not the only ones living in this new but old home.

Expectations of wanting their first home to be completely perfect soon starts to spiral down-hill. The group of friends learn that they are now strangers in their own home and that they are trespassing on someone else's property. Although the spirits presence is obvious, it is Georgia whom is the first to discover the shadows on the walls. Is this a sign?

As Georgia is the first to see and inform the group, the spirit (Dana) takes advantage of Georgia and teaches her a lesson about exposing hidden spirits to the living and the consequences that come with living in a house that is not and never will be hers. The possession of Georgia petrifies the group as she is now on the enemies side. In despair, Alex and Grace come up with a plan to quickly restore Georgia back to her natural self again.

It is all a matter of time. The group are put to test as they only have 2 hours to restore Georgia or else she will stay on the side of the enemy forever. Alex and Grace attempt to use spiritual remedies said to restore the possessed; but will the group succeed?

Racing against the clock the group is terrified that they will never get their friend back. Or was Georgia always a part of the spiritual world as she was the first one to spot Dana's shadows on the wall?

RESTORATION IS NOT SHOWN. WILL MAKE THE ENDING AS SCARY AS POSSIBLE :D

Synopsis of my trailer (over 250 words)

When it is time to pack up and leave the past behind, is a new start the right choice to be making? But Bethan is not convinced and tries her very best to stay with the old. Picking up the last few boxes, her father experiences some petrifying events. A mothers love is forever, her child is missing and Mama goes to extremes to retrieve her. Will Bethan and her father make it out in time, or will Mama's attempt to save her daughter result in a brutally, devastating exorcism?

Opposing; new houses with old habits, a families desperate attempt to move on is shattered in seconds by a petrifying shadow. A younger audience will be thrilled and be jumping out of their seats with an original story with a scary twist behind it. My target audience is people above the age of 15 because of the horror and violence present during the trailer. Aged 15 as language, horror and scenes are not suitable for a younger audience.

Equilibrium - Family move into new home
Disruption - Bethan refuses to move with family
Complication - Father returns in attempt to persuade her, experiences scary, abnormal activity
Climax - Mama makes her presence, possessions take place, scary spirits present
Restoration - Exorcism is performed on Bethan, leaves lasting affects on her ..... Schizophrenia.

Non sexist Lynx advertisment - Homework

How to advertis that isn't sexist:

- Men and Women can be present throughout the advert
- Women do not have to dressed in inappropriate clothing that will sexually excite the males
- The advert should be suitable to play throughout the day because it is not sexist or overally sexual
- Not use humans in their T.V ads, could use animals?
The Advert:

Setting: A beach scene with a sports game
Theme: Sports
What: Males and Females will be actively playing a game of volleball or frisbee along the beach, no revealing outfits and no sexual looks or remarks. The players then start to become hot and sweaty and they need a spray to "freshen up". Both products of lynx male or female will be used and no isolation of gender. No sexual attraction from the sprays will be present.

Slogan: Spray Fresh, Spray Lynx.

Sky Skills Review

Sky Sports Review:

On Friday the 22nd March 2013 the GCSE media group took a trip to the sky skills studio. During this trip we had the opportunity to create a sky news report and take on the roles of different people within the media and production industry.  Each group had around 4/5 people in and the different roles consisted of Camera operator, Director, Presenter, Editor, Expert, Reporter, Producer and others. However because of being short for time we only got to experience the role of one person. If I was to improve the trip I think the tour we took at the start would be longer, and if we had more time to swap and change roles so we get the experience of more than one role.

At the start of the trip, we had a tour around the main building. To this we learnt that the building is extremely eco-friendly and that the sky studios regenerate their own energy. This saves a lot of time and money for things like light bulb in the production suites.  The main building was also built for three purposes to Make, Shape and Share. For each part such as make they have their own floors to make, shape (edit) and share programmes.  I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and will take some of the knowledge I gained through to my work experience in July. However I do wish that the tour could have lasted a lot longer considering the amount that sky does, as it was incredibly short.

Further on during the trip we had the opportunity to make, shape and share our own sky news report. During this task I took on the role of being a reporter. To fulfil this role I had to interview an expert (Humaira) on a topic relating to Social Networking. For this task we chose to talk about the misconception of identity of some people on social networking sites, and the dangers of it. I felt incredibly professional but very conscious of the camera; it was a strange but incredible experience. The sky skills studio influenced the presenters, experts and reporters to get into role by providing them with costumes.

All in all I extremely enjoyed this experience. I will take the key skills of teamwork and communication to my work experience at the Farm Group in July. It made me think about if I would like to work and experience a career in the media industry. Mr Holloway also informed me about jobs at sky, which I would be interested in after I leave school. This trip has highly benefitted me, and has influenced my commitment and passion to continue working hard in media studies to make me achieve the best grades I can after gaining some experience in a professional light.

Banned advert; spot analysis

i think that this advert was banned and removed because of the representation and exposure of women whom work for this airline. as a lady is presented in her underwear and posing to seduce, it can mean that she is only working there for sex, and not to advertise cheap flights.
the bold title at the top and then the caption "and crew" below can be taken in a very misleading way. If a male was to be watching or saw this advert, he would interpret the appeal of this advert in a very different manner than what it should appeal by. I interpret this advert by it having many appeals, such as a need for sex, prominence and attention. the fact that the lady is posing in such a sexy way to advertise this airline is misleading, this would cause the audience to think that if they book the cheap flights away with ryan air they are also going to get a sexual reward from their very attractive "crew".

The ASA would have banned this advert in my opinion because of the false representation of their crew and how misleading it is. This may also be taken up as sexist as just a female is represented in a sexual way and not being targeted at their male members of crew in the airline. This advert is also inappropriate to what they are trying to sell. here they are advertising sexual behavior in the cabins of Ryan Air aircraft's  not cheap easy flights to Ireland. I also think that t=it is inappropriate to their audience, as not just adults fly with ryan air, som children do too and this exposure could make parents feel uneasy about using Ryan Air and therefore the company lose business.

The actual reason it was removed because of its sexist claims of the advert just being women, and its advertising of inappropriate behavior onbaord the cabins. It was band because the message from this advert, even though the picture wasn't overly sexual, it still stated sexual things and behaviour and would have been interpreted by that audience. The sexism was reported by male members, as the airline is just showing their attractive female crew members with pictures taken from their staff calender, not all employees were happy about this showing and representation.

Print advert

I chose this picture because it had character. I found the comparison of the rhino to a car really interesting to see within an advert as this completely personifies the car as you start to see the features of the rhino within the car. This model is a large 4 by 4 meaning it is a car that can take on a challenge, just like the way a rhino can take on a challenge through woodland or a forest or even when hunting for prey. The comparison shows that it is a beast and can perform daringly and is not afraid. It is strong, tough and fearsome and nothing should come in the way of the car or the rhino as it will be trashed.

As the rhino is quite a violent and strong animal, it can represent this car as being male like. This is because a rhino is a strong muscly build just like a man, whereas if a cat was representing the car the approach and audience would be different. This advert has a personality and gives a reason for someone to buy the car as they want to feel as strong and powerful in their car as the rhino.

How men and women are represented in the lynx advert.

16th January 2013

In the advert for the product of the new deodorant Lynx Excite men and women are presented in a reversed kind of way.
Trough out the advert you do not see a male face until the last few shots of the commercial, however on the other hand through out the whole advert you see hundreds of women running through different settings in their bikinis, as they all eventually end up together surrounding this male on a beach.
Now, through out the duration of the advert women are running through "wild" places like the jungle with angry looking facial expressions. This advertising has represented women in a hungry type of way, making them seem like animals hunting for their prey.
The male however is presented in the opposite. Usually it is a male representation the way the advertising company have represented women but they have chosen to revers it, so that the male character is presented in a more relaxed, content manner. The whole point of the advertising company reversing the representations of the two genders was to attract the right kind of male audience. Young attractive females running through forests and beaches would appeal to men, and make them want to buy the product as it tricks them into thinking "I will get all the girls if i spray lynx on me".
The representations have a positive affect on the target audience to which I think would successfully sell the product.
